Provides oversight and leadership for all aspects of the BioMed Faculty Administration (BMFA) Office. Oversee all aspects of adherence with and approvals by University and Divisional policies and procedures for faculty recruitments, faculty compensation/merit, appointments, reappointments, promotions and reporting for over 2300 faculty in seven biology departments and centers and 15 clinical departments and sections. Advises various Deansâ™ offices, department chairs, department managers on faculty policies and procedures. Responsible for strategic planning, collaborating on new initiatives, and instilling a sense of continuous process improvement in BMFA staff.
A campus-wide strategic partner for BioMed Faculty and works collaboratively with Division stakeholders (Deansâ™ offices, Finance, Advancement, CIS, Biology and clinical departments., the Office of Women in Medicine and Science, the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs) as well as University partners (Provost's Office, Corporation Office, Dean of Faculty, the Office of the Vice President for Research, General Counsel, School of Public Health, University HR, Workday Operations, Computing & Information Services) on various faculty-related issues and policies. Manages staff and provides professional development opportunities. Serve on multiple steering committees (including but not limited to Workday Operations, Interfolio, VIVO, Educational Faculty Development, BioMed Compensation Committee). Oversees the Committee on Medical Faculty Appointments (CMFA) in conjunction with the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and CMFA manager and Clinical Faculty Advisory Committee (CFAC) with the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs, Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and BMFA Faculty Coordinator. Also serves as Brownâ™s representative for the New England Network on Faculty Affairs (NENFA).
Bachelorâ™s Degree (Masters preferred) plus 5-7 yearsâ™ senior administrative experience in an academic setting or equivalent combination of education/experience
Knowledge of faculty administrative procedures a plus
Knowledge of other institutionsâ™ practices
Strong management/leadership skills
Ability to understand and interpret complex policies governing faculty personnel actions
Computer proficiency including word processing & databases
Strong communication/interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations
