ABOUT OASIS FOR GIRLS
Oasis For Girls (Oasis) was established in 1999 to partner with young women of color from under-resourced neighborhoods in San Francisco in order to meet and overcome the many social and environmental challenges they faced to leading healthy, productive lives. While interest in engaging this population has increased over the past decades, young women of color still have few dedicated places to meet, socialize, and learn from each other, and to participate in programs designed to cultivate a full spectrum of interests and opportunities. Today, Oasis serves 150 girls annually through programs focused on healthy decision-making, art and creative writing, and academic and career development. Oasis continues to play a vital role in helping young women of color “cultivate the skills, knowledge, and confidence to discover their dreams and build strong futures.”
