An NIAID/NIH-funded Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available to study aspects of the cell biology and microbiology of chlamydial persistence in the laboratories of Dr. Elizabeth Rucks and Dr. Scot Ouellette in the Department of Pathology and Microbiology. The molecular mechanisms governing entry into persistence are unknown, and the focus of the R01 funded project is to investigate key chlamydial proteins and processes sensitive to tryptophan limitation. Two areas of particular interest include effects on type III secretion and bacterial cell division. Application should include a cover letter describing research experience and interests (max. 2 pages), CV with complete list of publications, and names and contact information for three references.
Ph.D. obtained within the past three years in microbiology, cell biology, molecular biology, or related scientific field.
Research experience in related subject or specifically chlamydial organisms.
