The Senior Manager of Institutional Giving will lead efforts toward the identification, cultivation and stewardship of institutional funders to match strategic initiatives with donor priorities. The Senior Manager of Institutional Giving will secure corporate, foundation, and government grants for general operating support and restricted programs; write creative and compelling proposals, reports, and other fundraising requests; leverage alumni and parent gifts to secure institutional funding; and develop and build upon relationships to ensure fiscal strength, increase the organization’s visibility, and demonstrate the impact of programs.
Under the direction of the Director of Development and working collaboratively with the Executive Director, Board, and key leadership staff, the Senior Manager of Institutional Giving will develop and implement an institutional giving strategy, toward the success of Third Street’s upcoming 125th Anniversary Campaign.
Drive and oversee the institutional giving program, including researching and identifying new funding sources and opportunities from foundation, corporate, and government funding sources
Write, coordinate, and submit grant proposals, budgets, and reports in accordance with the annual grants calendar
Maintain and manage the annual institutional giving calendar to ensure Third Street’s institutional fundraising efforts are on track, including meeting all proposal and report deadlines and implementing a regular schedule of cultivation/stewardship activities with foundation/corporation staff
With the Director of Development and Executive Director, coordinate and/or implement the cultivation and stewardship of funder relationships to realize revenue goals through five- and six-figure grants
Steward relationships with local elected officials for continued/increased support
Collaborate with program staff to: gather information needed for proposals; identify new program opportunities for funding; coordinate site visits; and identify metrics/outcomes and data analysis for grant solicitations and reports
Identify new corporate funders, including underwriting opportunities and sponsorship prospects for fundraising initiatives and events
Assist with the selection and supervision of development interns working on institutional giving projects
Track and create reports reflecting institutional giving totals; oversee all institutional giving files and documentation
In coordination with development staff, assist with gift processing and database management of institutional donors
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree in public administration, public policy, nonprofit management preferred
Minimum four years related experience
Exemplary writing skills and proven track record in grant proposal writing; the ideal candidate will have the ability to craft clear, compelling and strategic funding proposals that tell Third Street’s story and make a persuasive case for funding while weaving together information generated by departments across the organization
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, advancing macro goals and needs while concurrently handling time-sensitive tasks
Excellent project management and time management skills: ability to coordinate and advance complex projects—from concept to implementation—on schedule while maintaining accuracy and paying close attention to detail
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to effectively cultivate and steward internal and external relationships
Team player with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with staff members in all departments of the organization
Knowledge of and ability to access donor/funder prospect research tools and digital applications
Basic understanding of budgets and nonprofit finance
Experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred
Knowledge of and ability to engender appreciation of music, the arts and arts education
