Rochester, NY - University of Rochester Medical Center seeks a strategic, financially astute and highly accomplished leader to join one of the most progressive and prestigious academic institutions in the nation as the Senior Associate Dean for Finance and Administration (Senior Associate Dean) for the School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD).
One of the nation’s leading academic medical centers, the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) forms the centerpiece of the university’s biomedical research, teaching, patient care, and community outreach missions. URMC’s overall academic and clinical enterprise has a budget of almost $2.5 billion, and the main campus occupies 4.9 million square feet of space. Led by CEO and Dean, Mark Taubman, MD, the medical center has an integrated administrative structure, budget, and strategic plan.
The Senior Associate Dean is the chief administrative and chief financial officer of the School and representative of the Dean. The Senior Associate Dean is responsible for all financial functions and ensuring that a sound operational and financial infrastructure is in place. This leader will endeavor to champion and support all the missions at SMD and URMC. The Senior Associate Dean is responsible for providing effective leadership and expertise and fosters shared governance and collaboration in all matters pertaining to the school’s operating budget, planning activities with the Dean’s Cabinet, Center Directors, Department Chairs, and several University and Medical Center administrative and support operations.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in management and administration at a major research university or academic medical center and/or school; an advanced degree is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
