St. Christopher’s Inn, a substance abuse treatment center in Garrison, NY, has an immediate need for a proven Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to be responsible for monitoring medication side effects and participating in the treatment of clients with psychiatric disorders.
Provides psychiatric evaluations for clients with pre-existing or newly diagnosed psychiatric disorders. Evaluates clients for the need for psychiatric interventions. Initiates treatment of psychiatric disorders.
Evaluates available clinical data (including lab and other reports).
Performs clinical screening and referral of all conditions in need of consultation to medical specialties.
Consults with and advises the Medical Director, Counseling staff and Director of Nursing Services regarding client psychiatric issues.
Provides client education regarding health promotion and disease process.
Documents client’s progress in progress notes as requested.
Prescribes, follows-up and reviews all prescribed medication.
Determines acceptability of clients.
Referrals to appropriate institutions for clients in need of a higher level of care.
Understands and complies with the Corporate Compliance plan, which includes adherence to the Code of Conduct, policies and procedures, mandatory training and all rule, regulations and laws set forth by governing authorities.
Salary will be based upon experience.
