Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Technician.
In this role, the successful candidate The NYU Rodent Genetic Engineering Laboratory (RGEL) is a fee-for-service laboratory operated by the NYU Langone Health (NYULH) as a state-of-the-art shared resource for biomedical researchers. The Research Technician will report to the Director of the RGEL and will work within the scientific framework of the Core to serve its goals and in collaboration with principal investigators employing the core. The successful candidate will perform CRISPR-Cas 9 microinjection, generation of ES-mice using tetraploid blastocyst injections, generation of ES-cell chimeras using blastocyst injections. In additional, iPS cell blastocyst injections, embryos and sperm cryopreservation, in vitro fertilization (IVF), rederivation & embryo transfer and related duties, observe, monitor and maintain breeding colonies and data records in NYULH's transgenic colony. S/He will be responsible for performing a variety of complex laboratory tasks of a routine nature as well as methods development and standardized procedures to provide high quality transgenics resource support for the research community.
Prepares and maintains detailed records and summary reports of all procedures.
Responsible for tissue & cell culture activities.
Responsible for animal husbandry, genotyping and post-operative care.
Responsible for molecular testing such as PCR and DNA genomic extractions.
Performs routine molecular biology laboratory procedures, such as PCR, and DNA electrophoresis, cloning and DNA preparation.
Responsible for designing the primers and ordering.
Ensures that safe laboratory practices are followed, including the use and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials.
Provides technical support to faculty and staff including training of new employees, residents, postdoctoral associates, fellows and students.
Participates in planning and carrying out experiments.
Assists in preparing research protocols.
Receives supply orders and confirms accuracy of delivery.
Ensures that facilities and equipment are in optimal and proper working condition.
Performs mouse sperm cryopreservation.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Life Sciences or a related field with one year of experience. Advanced (beyond basic lab training will be accepted in lieu of experience as assessed by the hiring Principal Investigator). Effective oral and written communication skills required.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology or life sciences field required with 1- 2 years bench lab related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
