AdventHealth Waterman seeks to hire a Security Manager who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.
Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,368-bed AdventHealth Orlando, serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America. AdventHealth Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country. We are already one of the busiest hospitals in the nation, providing service excellence to more than 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients each year.
The AdventHealth System Security Department consists of 5 Divisions: Technology, Training, Communications, Investigations, and Security Force Operations. While the System Security Division is located on the Orlando campus, the scope of services provided, and oversight of operations extends to all business entities located in the AdventHealth Central Market
Monday- Friday; 8am – 5pm
Under limited supervision, manages the implementation of the AdventHealth Security Management program. Assesses security threats to the hospital and assists in planning appropriate strategies and countermeasures. Reviews and analyzes data and devises risk minimization programs. Works with Security Leadership to ensure campus security procedures and initiatives align with the goals and objectives of system security throughout the AdventHealth organization. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Position requires psychological and physical fitness screenings..
Strong organization, analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage Security personnel, organization, scheduling, and prioritizing work assignments
Effective oral and written communication skills, with heavy emphasis on customer service
Intermediate computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, and the ability to operate security and parking management software, and physical security systems (including, but not limited to CCTV, access control, license plate recognition, duress alarms, etc.)
Ability to work in a matrix-management environment to achieve organizational goals
Ability to conduct threat assessment and evaluate security risk
Ability to collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and develop alternative solutions
Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment that includes frequent interruptions, changes in priorities, and under stress
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to patients, visitors and/or employees
Ability to compile, review and summarize federal, state and local laws and regulations that affect the safe and secure operation of AdventHealth
Ability to assist in developing and maintaining budgets at the department level
Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint (Preferred)
Five years of supervisory experience in security, the military, or law enforcement with emphasis on customer contact, OR,
Five years of experience working in AdventHealth Security in either the Training or Investigations divisions, AND,
Associate degree with course work in security, law enforcement, or an equivalent program, AND,
Two years of experience in Incident Command System (ICS) or Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) emergency management administration
Bachelor's degree in business administration or relevant field (psychology, sociology, criminal justice, security, law enforcement, etc) (Preferred)
Previous experience working in healthcare security, law enforcement, military, or emergency management (Preferred)
Two years of continuous employment at Florida Hospital as a Security Site Supervisor, Security Supervisor or Security Assistant Supervisor (Preferred)
Experience as a Certified Trainer or Instructor in the field of security, law enforcement, military, or emergency management (Preferred)
Criminal investigative experience (Preferred)
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor (CHSS)
Basic Life Support (BLS)
State of Florida Class E driver's license and driving record in accordance with AdventHealth policy
MOAB International – Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) (Preferred)
Personal Safety Training, Inc. – Handcuffing, or equitable national certification (Preferred)
Personal Safety Training, Inc. – Pepper Spray, or equitable national certification (Preferred)
Personal Safety Training, Inc. – Baton, or equitable national certification (Preferred)
TASER International – Conducted Electrical Weapon (Preferred)
American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), and/or Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) (Preferred)

Manages Security operations, parking and traffic enforcement for a Hospital campus within the AdventHealth System.
Interfaces directly with administration, physicians, employees, contractors and customers in a manner which reflects AdventHealth's purpose and Core Values.
Continuously monitors and ensures that Security Operations are evaluated and compliant with AdventHealth Security Department Policies, Procedures, Licensing, and the Physical Environment Security Management System requirements as outlined by regulatory agencies.
Assists with budget preparation, analyzes financial statements, and takes necessary actions to control and reduce costs. Ensures adequate supplies are available and within budget constraints for assigned areas.
Hires, coaches, and terminates staff; remains objective when dealing with personnel issues; seeks input and provides consistent and timely feedback; remains accessible and visible to staff; communicates consistently with staff; coordinates and ensures team compliance for security educational standards and development programs; schedules and maintains Security coverage.
Manages sensitive security records, databases, and reporting documents, and oversees monitoring of electronic access control, intrusion detection, and fire systems.
Recommends and participates in the development of, and establishes security policy and procedures; establishes and implements short and long range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates program effectiveness; affects changes required for improvements.
Serves on requested committees to promote increased security awareness, and sets an example of extraordinary of customer service to security supervisors and officers.
Assists in emergency management through contingency planning and emergency response.
Conducts investigations and performs threat assessments including, but not limited to, claims of inappropriate behavior, criminal matters, and policy infractions.
May float to various campuses to provide security support.
