We are seeking a Director of Infrastructure and Risk Management. This position’s primary responsibility is to provide leadership, strategy, and support to the teams responsible for managing the infrastructure supporting campus operations and for overall risk management. The Director of Infrastructure and Risk Management reports to the Director of Operations,
The key areas of responsibilities include:
Campus safety and security
Facilities and landscape maintenance and repair
Equipment replacement cycle planning
Food service management
Risk management mitigation
Student store management
Capital planning assessment
Plant Budget Oversight (including PPRRSM)
Safety Data Sheets (SDS) compliance
Legal counsel (LCW) collaboration for waivers and contracts
This is a position that requires excellent skills in managing expectations, clear communication, tact, patience, and a service-oriented attitude. A good strategic sense, sound operational and financial management judgment, and exceptional interpersonal skills are all important to the success of this position.
Essential Job Duties:
Thoroughly understand the School – its history and culture, governance structure, staff, physical plant, and community network
Keep the Director of Operations and Chief Operating Officer informed of school operations, provide timely and concise “state of the organization” assessment; work to enhance the operating infrastructure of the School
Establish collaborative working relationships with the school’s leaders, faculty, staff, partners, vendors and other constituencies; foster and sustain a culture of cooperation, trust, communication, mutual support, teamwork and integrity; lead and positively motivate and nurture a strong committed professional staff, ensuring a team-oriented working environment with open lines of communication
Working collaboratively within the school organization, review all the Operations department procedures, processes, workflows, staff assignments and subcontractor relationships and contracts; ensure that the school maintains a solid operational foundation; provide continuing assessment of staff to ensure growth, productivity and performance; identify and address areas challenging the school’s evolution and growth
Continually identify the current and future needs of the School; develop an integrated plan for delivering a full range of quality services and support, developing performance benchmarks for the various functions, sharing the status of the various Operations activities with school community
With the Director of Operations, the administrative leadership team, and the professional staff of the school, ensure that all non-tuition sources of earned income are maximized (summer camps, book store, etc)
Maintain and continually upgrade the various facilities of the school’s physical plant, leveraging internal and contract resources in the most cost-effective and operationally efficient way to ensure quality results
Support in the development and assessment of the operating budget, ensuring it aligns with strategic priorities and surpasses industry standards
Participate in relevant meetings across organizational boundaries with partners, vendors, and community leaders; remain informed of services relevant to the School and the organization’s constituencies; advance Operations department as a role model for collaborations that meet the immediate and ongoing needs of the community
Ensure that the day-to-day operations and programs are professionally and efficiently organized and administered; ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements
Oversee recruiting, retention, motivation, and evaluation of Operations departmental staff; ensure that the staffing mix is balanced to meet School’s goals; encourage staff development efforts to enrich the competencies and experience levels of departmental staff
Periodically review and develop upgrade plans for the physical infrastructure of the School, ensuring that all facilities are appropriate; pay attention to the ergonomics and aesthetic qualities of the physical plant, ensuring in particular that the School’s user-friendly working environment is sustained and enhanced

Strong operational experience: ideally has worked in a senior leadership role for 5+ years in a socially responsible organization with at least three years’ experience in operational management
Demonstrated successful experience in financial planning and analysis
Skills should reflect successful experience in organizational development, personal management, budget and resource development, and strategic planning; demonstrated success developing and monitoring systems to manage operational work involving regular collaboration
Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to mission of Windward School
Experience navigating through consensus-driven organizations or schools with multiple stakeholders
