Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart in Princeton, New Jersey is an all-boys independent Sacred Heart school for grades K-8. We are currently seeking a full-time music teacher for the 2019–20 school year. This is a Lower and Middle School teaching position and has classroom teaching responsibilities that can range from Kindergarten through Grade 8. Teaching responsibilities include both general music and chorus/vocal music.

The goal of our music program is to inspire our boys so that they may develop knowledge and understanding of music through ongoing interactions with the elements of music. A successful candidate will foster a classroom environment that is conducive to the intellectual, social, and emotional development of boys while creating a learning experience that motivates each student along their musical journey. This will allow our students to build and develop their musicianship and appreciation for music, regardless of musical ability.
Interested candidates should have three or more years teaching experience in a Kindergarten through Grade 8 music program/learning environment; bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.

Collaboration with Lower School and Middle School Faculty
Presenting well-planned lessons with appropriate work in and outside of the classroom with a focus on the integration of subject areas, problem-solving, and creativity
Teacher duties that can range from Kindergarten to Grade 8
Integration of technology into classroom lessons
Maintain an organized, pleasant, and inviting environment that supports creativity
Music program curriculum development
Leadership of the school community in concerts and programs throughout the school year
Maintain resources and inventory of musical instruments, materials, and equipment
Enthusiastic about working collaboratively to build curriculum and improve pedagogy
Well versed with multiple instruments (including piano and strings); additional instrumental teaching experience preferred for small ensembles
Have solid vocal teaching knowledge and be able to model good singing; solid vocal pedagogy for training young singers
The ideal candidate is an outstanding musician and passionate about working with children
Experienced in developing a vocal ensemble with groups of mixed experience and skill
Plan and prepare annual performances for parents and community
Participation in professional development
Coaching experience, the ability to lead co-curricular activities as well as a degree in music education is preferred
