The incumbent will use skills as a seasoned and experienced administrative operations professional to manage, plan and administer the operations of a small to mid-sized academic or non-academic department or organizational unit with limited scope. May report to a chair, director, or a higher level administrative operations professional or manager. Perform short- and long-term planning for the organization. May supervise staff or students. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
The Education, Outreach, and Diversity Coordinator (EOC) for the NSF funded Center for Aerosol Impacts on Climate and the Environments (CAICE), coordinates and administers the outreach, education and diversity (EOD) activities for the Center located at UCSD, as well as the programs for affiliate sites. The EOC reports to the Director of the Center, works closely with the Center Managing Administrator and interacts with CAICE faculty, staff, and students.
Core responsibilities include identifying, implementing, and managing programs and services designed to increase participation of underrepresented groups in CAICE Center education, outreach, and diversity activities. Specifically, communicating the Center science to the broader public and youth, coordinating and administering the Center's outreach and education activities, representing CAICE at meetings and events, advancing strategies to broaden the participation of underrepresented groups in CAICE activities, and evaluating and disseminating the results of these activities.
The incumbent will also be responsible for directing and managing external communication, media, and marketing.

A Bachelor's Degree in related area; and/or equivalent experience/training.
Thorough knowledge of rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and/or personnel management.
Excellent organizational, management, entrepreneurial and marketing skills. Experience applying managerial and administrative concepts and practices.
Proven knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event planning, fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.
Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and/or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.
Strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, and advising and counseling skills.
Expert knowledge and experience in business administration and project management, with strong organizational management skills. Experience in researching, conceptualizing, developing, and evaluating projects.
Proven knowledge of federal, state, local, and private research funding programs and processes. Knowledge of various agency guidelines for Federal Agencies and knowledge of pre-award administration, business contracts, and state funds. Knowledge of Federal and State government protocol.
Proven expertise in understanding scientific language and principles involving research. Experience in a scientific/academic or similar environment. Experience with both education and scientific cultures and materials.
Proven knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics initiatives. Knowledge of CAICE science topics (aerosols and their impact on the climate/environment). Ability to communicate CAICE topics to general public.
Skill with diverse digital environments and computers programs such as MS Word, Excel, Publisher, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop and HTML for web page construction. Experience with handling and converting multiple file formats.
