The Oceanography Department of the Naval Postgraduate School invites applications for a research associate position with experience in ocean data analysis, modeling and simulation, and coastal processes including waves and sediment transport. Applicants must show a history of work in these or closely aligned areas. The official position title is defined as “Faculty Associate – Research”.
The Oceanography Department is part of the Graduate School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. We are seeking a colleague to join our vibrant OC Department, which has a long history of excellence in physical oceanography, ocean acoustics, ocean dynamics, nearshore processes, ocean waves and turbulence, ocean analysis and prediction, and high latitude ocean dynamics. The OC Department has a strong research infrastructure, such as facilities and vessels located in close proximity to Monterey Bay, CA, an experienced group of technical staff, and computational resources. The OC department promotes interdisciplinary research and encourages research collaborations with the number of oceanographic institutions located around the bay.
NPS is a federal institution within the U.S. Department of Defense that awards MS and PhD degrees. The student body is composed of U.S. and international military officers from all services, as well as federal employees.
A master degree and above in oceanography, engineering or related field;
Preference given to candidates with experience in data analysis (both remotely sensed and in situ), numerical modeling, , and coastal processes with waves and sediment transports;
U.S. citizenship required.
