Lincoln Academy, in Newcastle, ME seeks a full-time social studies teacher for the 2019-20 school year. Founded in 1801, LA is an independent Town Academy deeply rooted in the mid-coast communities of central Lincoln County. Serving today as the “high school of record” for eight of these communities, LA currently draws from 15 other area towns, accepting all students from those towns. In addition to our local students, the school enrolls up to 90 international and more distant boarding students. This results in an exciting mix of students, and the school is committed to providing an outstanding education for each of them.
Lincoln Academy is seeking an experienced Social Studies teacher with skills in teaching economics and government to join our program. Teaching duties may include Introduction to Economics, A.P. Macroeconomics, U.S. Government and Politics and U.S. History. Specific teaching assignments may change from year to year.
Preference will be given to individuals holding a Master's Degree in a social studies field. In addition to teaching responsibilities, faculty members are also required to advise a group of students, collaborate with colleagues and students in a diverse academic setting, and participate in some duties associated with the school’s boarding program. Experience with second language learners is helpful. Evidence of positive, professional relationships with students, colleagues, and parents and a commitment to continued professional development are also important qualifications.

Lincoln Academy has been educating students in the Midcoast region of Maine since 1801. The majority of our 585 students are day students from Newcastle and 19 other towns in the surrounding area. Our boarding program includes 90 students from 19 countries as well as other parts of the U.S.
