The person in this role will lead cross-functional interactions across Marketing, Sales, Sales Strategy, Finance, and internal leadership teams to provide insights and actionable business recommendations based pricing and promotion analytics
S/he will be responsible for leading, developing, refining and executing pricing and promotion reporting and analytics such as marketplace competitive landscapes, pricing elasticity and promotion response modeling, business scenario “what if” development, and promotional ROI assessment that deliver hypotheses, insights and actionable business recommendations with respect to pricing and promotional strategy and effectiveness guidelines and playbook development
Delivers comprehensive pricing support for the Sales Strategy and Marketing teams on promotion trade guidelines and pricing recommendations
Assist in the assessment of tools and vendors in the pricing and promotion space for optimal performance
Establish effective working relationships with the Marketing and Sales Strategy teams, the US Innovation team, Consumer and Sales Insights team, and the US Finance team
Provide US Leadership team with relevant Pricing information and support on pricing decisions
Provide strategic pricing support and thought leadership to marketing and sales strategy teams, including focus on both premium and value based (lower cost) opportunities to improve pricing to help maximize sales and profitability
Lead proactive and comprehensive pricing landscapes including recommendations bi-annually for key brands across the portfolio and completes a minimum of three to four brands per year
Define recommended pack-price architecture for list, recommended retail every day and promotional prices
Assess competitive pricing for key competitors, develop strategic playbook including leader/follower definition and every day and promotional strategic responses for Pfizer brands
Develop, in tandem with marketing and sales strategy teams, a holistic pricing process for US PCH to fully incorporate consumer and retailer perspectives as well as incorporating pricing and profitability thinking into early stage innovation and throughout product lifecycle
Develop a comprehensive understanding and dynamic knowledge of the Consumer Health Care and Pricing environments in the US. With appropriate price reporting oversight and work with E-comm team on dynamic pricing tools and guidance
Optimize the Pricing strategies of the PCH portfolio along the products’ life cycles, including new item pricing with the marketing and Sales Strategy teams and presenting pricing perspective to US Customer Leadership Team
Perform sensitivity analysis and ensure analyses are fully utilized in pricing decisions. Understand pricing elasticity models and work with Market Analytics team on their BASES work
Develop innovative pricing programs that preserve or provide incremental value to consumers, PCH customers, and PCH
Develop understanding and guidelines for usage of promotional pricing. Develop modeling around value of price clusters and usage
Craft promotional guardrails and guidelines with the Trade Promotion Managers for recommended changes to the Trade promotion strategies and policies
Advise the Sales teams on the effectiveness of the promotion plans and help optimize for trade ROI and effectiveness
Develop a deep understanding and knowledge of the shopper pricing trends and across franchises and all channels of selling .
Attend the monthly pricing forum meetings and hold quarterly promotion reviews with SS and Marketing
Liaise with Rx to OTC switch team to ensure pricing is involved as early as possible in switch opportunities
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :
4-6 years’ experience in a Sales Finance, Trade Promotion, Pricing, Business Analytics or similar role in a major CPG or consumer health player
College degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Business Analytics or similar degree
Demonstrated track record of leadership of peers
Ability to work independently and entrepreneurially
Strong communication skills including the ability to translate data and information into simple and compelling business stories
Strong Analytic proficiency
Familiarity with CRM system management, statistical modeling concepts, excellent Excel skills
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Some occasional travel required to work with field based Sales teams
