Under general direction, the Transmission Line Worker Supervisor II directs the activities of crews engaged in the construction, maintenance and repair of high voltage transmission, distribution and substation systems, and performs related duties as required. Requires major responsibility for: interpreting, coordinating and carrying out existing methods and procedures relative to the construction, maintenance and repair of power delivery system; making regular contacts with other departmental personnel and the general public in connection with line construction, maintenance and repair activities; preparing, checking and reviewing time, material and work performance records and reports. Nature of work requires considerable physical activity with some exposure to inclement weather and some possibility of accident and injury.
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:
Assign, supervise and inspect the activities of power system supervisors /foremen in the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of power delivery system, including transmission, distribution, substations, distributed energy resources, metering, relaying and appurtenance.
Make field inspections of work in progress to assure conformance with instructions and prescribed safety practices and methods.
Prepare time and material cost estimates for various work projects.
Approve requisitions for materials and supplies and assure that same conform with specifications and acceptable standards.
Assure that crews are adequately supplied with necessary materials, tools and equipment to complete their various assignments.
Supervise the preparation of material cost and time records and reports.
Assist In the development and advancement of subordinates, through training and effective use of employee development program.
Class 7285 Transmission Line Worker Supervisor II performs other related duties as required.
Working Conditions: Nature of work requires considerable physical activity with some exposure to inclement weather and serious accident hazards.
Completion of high school; AND
Eight (8) years of journeyman level experience in the construction, maintenance and repair of high voltage over-head transmission systems; including, three (3) years of responsible supervisory experience.
Special condition: Requires possession of a valid class “A” or “B driver’s license.
