Internet2 is seeking a Senior Program Manager to lead our efforts to develop, implement, and manage Internet2’s industry relationships and participation. This includes being responsible for executing an industry engagement strategy that provides specific value for Internet2’s industry, and other (most notably university) members.
This role involves working across all of Internet2’s functional areas to identify diverse types of industry engagements and reconcile these needs under a coherent structure and framework (from membership to other participation and awareness programs). In addition, this role includes framing and developing strategies for our work with industry to support Internet2’s mission with benefits for our community at large. It is expected that the person in this role will act as the senior relationship manager for all industry members, while also coordinating with other Internet2 areas that support industry engagement (e.g. cloud services, InCommon and so on).
The successful candidate should have entrepreneurial skills and is an individual with a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results, has high work standards and be able to recognize opportunities and develop strategies to realize them.
The position will report to the Vice President, Community Engagement. Preferred locations are Internet2’s Ann Arbor, MI or Denver, CO offices.
Lead and implement programs, collaborative processes and projects ensuring that industry interests are fully leveraged and support the Internet2 mission.
Ensuring that Internet2 offers value to its industry members – develops and implements industry segment-based engagement plans and outreach. Develops and implements plans that may include diverse approaches to value propositions and member services. This will include implementing a scalable, forward-looking strategy for industry membership in Internet2.
Maintain integrity of current industry membership financial model while also working with Internet2’s leadership to evolve this into the future.
Collaborate across functional areas to ensure organizational and community needs for industry engagement are met.
Identify and prioritize industry segments where additional opportunities supporting Internet2’s mission exist and implement strategies to develop those opportunities.
Represent Internet2 in public and community forums, at industry and community conferences, and in meetings with key stakeholders.
Serve as senior relationship manager for all Internet2 industry members.
Bachelor's degree required. MBA preferred.
Ten plus years’ experience working with industry and university stakeholders in an advanced technology environment.
Demonstrated relationship management skills and the ability to build and grow connections with people of all types and backgrounds.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrixed organization and leverage talent of cross-functional team members.
Demonstrated project management experience.
Technical knowledge of Internet2’s core infrastructure components including the network, trust and identity and cloud services.
Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
Ability to travel up to 25%.
Familiarity with the Internet2 ecosystem and operating models of National Research and Educations Networks (NRENs), IAM federations, and higher education entities preferred.
Familiarity with Internet2’s current industry membership program and stakeholders preferred.
