The Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery in Indianapolis, Indiana is seeking a full time experienced faculty physician to join its comprehensive department in a leadership role. The Division Chief of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery position will be at the Associate Professor or above on the tenure track. Highly qualified candidates may be considered for tenure. Primary Role: Tenured and tenure-track faculty are responsible for teaching, research, and service. Through this work, and through their participation in faculty governance, tenure-track faculty have primary responsibility for the accomplishment and the integrity of the University's academic mission.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is a Division Director level position Associate Professor or higher.
Participates in an active, comprehensive facial plastic & reconstructive surgery practice. This experience must include facial cosmetic surgery, facial trauma, facial reanimation including gracilis free tissue transfer, complex MOHS reconstruction, head & neck free tissue transfer.
Ideal candidate should have significant experience in educational and clinical missions of an academic Department of Otolaryngology, e.g director of clinical operations, clinic site director, clerkship director, residency program director
Teaches learners or supports the education mission
Directs a Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery fellowship
Mentors learners and faculty members
Engages in IUSM, university, health system, and national service (e.g., committees, professional organizations, review panels, etc.) as well as service to the community
Is supportive of research and scholarship in all of the mission areas
Participates in ongoing learning and development to continually strengthen their capacity as teachers, scholars, and providers of care.
While these are essential responsibilities of all faculty members, there is great variation in the manner in which faculty members contribute to the mission areas and achieve these essential responsibilities.
Experience and Education Requirements: Ph.D., M.D., or Ph.D./M.D. The faculty rank for these tenure-track positions is open (Associate or Professor) is determined based on the qualifications and experience of the successful incumbent. Board Certified in Otolaryngology-Head& Neck Surgery and fellowship-trained in Facial Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery. Must have evidence of excellent research credentials and training, including high impact publications.
