The UC San Diego, Health Sciences Academic Resource Center (ARC) is one of four shared services at UC San Diego. ARC provides administrative support services for faculty, academics, scholars, physicians, and department liaisons in the areas of recruitment, academic review, personnel administration, and compensation. Our mission is to provide expert, timely service and objective advice to our clients as they work to fulfill the UCSD mission of groundbreaking research, inspired teaching, and clinical service.
Under the direction of the unit supervisor, the successful candidate will work as part of a comprehensive team dedicated to delivering quality service to our departments, faculty and academics. In this position, you will be exposed to the Academic Personnel Review and Advancement process. You will:
Acquire knowledge of and ability to apply/interpret organization and university policies and procedures that govern Academic HR .
Acquire the skills and knowledge to facilitate the academic review and advancement process for faculty and professional researchers.
Cultivate your analytical skills to be able to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organizational and problem-solving skills.
Assist the Reviews Analysts in preparation for weekly, biweekly, and/or monthly client conference calls and meetings
Depending on the experience of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the Academic HR Analyst 1 or Academic HR Analyst 2 level.!
A Bachelor's Degree in related area; and/or equivalent experience/training.
Strong writing skills - paying close attention to detail, spelling and grammar.
Effective verbal communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy and flexibility.
Ability to work independently and effectively with ability to set priorities, adjust priorities as needed, and meet frequent and changing deadlines. Excellent follow through.
Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, etc.) and familiar with case management systems, database software and applications.
Employment is subject to both a criminal background check.
Candidates must be willing to travel to various Health Sciences locations: Campus, Hillcrest, East Campus, etc. and maintain a flexible work schedule based on customer needs.
Must be willing to work occasional overtime as needed for deadlines and may be required to attend occasional meetings on the weekends.
