The Chief Architect is an exciting position in the newly created Emerging Technology group in the university IT Department. This group will be focusing on leading edge information technology (IT) solutions, creating truly innovative solutions for the university. The team will create knowledge and technology to empower The New School by making the campus information system lighter, smarter and friendlier. The Chief Architect will assist in fostering an environment of innovation by advocating and driving change by enabling and modeling adoption of innovative behaviors and practices. The Chief Architect will strategically plan and coordinate the transformation of infrastructure and IT architecture governance process. A technical thought leader, the Chief Architect will partner and collaborate cross-functionally across all of IT and the university.
Major Responsibilities - Develop and evolve an aspirational and state-of-the-art architectural road map for the emerging technology enterprise. - Design and develop campus wide architecture initiatives and cloud strategies that drive innovation and improve efficiency in line with emerging technology strategy. - Collaborate with the Foundation Technology team to ensure the support and success of emerging technology initiatives. - Maintain in-depth knowledge of IT industry best practices, technologies, architectures and emerging technologies. - Review new and existing program/project architecture for compliance with IT standards, policies and architectural plans. - Develop architectural metrics and reports for the executive team and IT management. - Maintain in-depth knowledge of the IT organization’s technologies and architectures. - Create and govern current and planned architectural documentation and blueprints for Emerging Technology. (ET vs IT) - Create strong external eminence through e.g. publication, keynote speeches, exhibition, etc.
- Master's degree in information technology, science or engineering related field. - Practical experience with Cloud security technology . - Experience with Master Data Management (MDM). - Familiar with higher education information technology. - Familiar with Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, or related technology. - Architect certified, e.g. AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect.
