The Associate Director of Admissions, Recruiting, & Diversity serves as a key member of the new student recruitment team and is a member of the admissions committee. They are responsible for implementing the recruiting and admissions plan for the MBA Programs and attracting high quality candidates to apply to the program, working with prospective candidates through inquiry, application and admission decision phases. Primarily, the Associate Director of Admissions, Recruiting, & Diversity serves as a high-level manager for diversity strategies and plans for the Carlson Part-Time and Full-Time MBA programs. This position will design and lead the diversity recruiting strategy for Carlson MBA admissions. This includes the development and execution of a recruiting and yield strategy to attract and enroll qualified MBA candidates from diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, and military service. Associate Director of Full-time MBA Admissions will share many responsibilities with the admissions and recruiting team, including evaluating hundreds of applications annually, recommending admission decisions from a highly competitive applicant pool, and traveling domestically and internationally to represent the Carlson MBA programs at recruiting and yield events. As a member of the admissions team, the Associate Director will also contribute to the development of the overall strategic recruitment and admissions plan for the MBA programs and management of specific Admissions and Recruiting projects and events. The position also represents the program on various school-wide committees as well as actively participates in national conferences. The position reports to the Director of Diversity, Admissions and Recruiting.
Diversity Recruitment & Lead Generation - 35%
Develop and implement recruitment plans and strategies specific to minority audiences that leverage existing recruitment practices and increase our success in effectively recruiting and matriculating minority students into the MBA Programs.
Builds relationships with MBA candidates from diverse backgrounds, such as female and underrepresented minority (URM) students, to increase the program’s diverse student pipeline, and works with diverse applicants through the admissions process.
Research and benchmark applications trends as it relates to underrepresented populations; and provide recommendations on how to increase efficacy for recruiting underrepresented students.
Stay current on and document policies, laws, and legal matters that relate to diversity recruitment; and educate greater admissions team.
Work with MBA Admissions and the Carlson School’s Communications Group to develop and implement effective communication strategies, web and interactive media, and marketing and promotional collateral materials that can be used for recruitment.
Collaborate with MBA program department leaders to conduct school-sponsored recruiting events; and participate in standard admissions activities such as admissions interviews, on-campus information sessions, open houses, admissions travel, and yield events. Ensure that the key messages with respect to diversity initiatives are appropriately positioned and integrated, and that the specific needs of diverse audiences are considered and met.
Participate actively in national association events and developmental programs that are focused on admissions and recruitment of diverse and traditionally underrepresented student groups.
Develop and administer Project Emerge and other pre-MBA programs and bridge programs to promote access to business education and assist the matriculation of students from non-traditional and underrepresented populations. Work collaboratively with other University units and community organizations as appropriate.
Develops and manages programming for the MBA diversity recruitment and yield events.
Lead the development and maintenance of strategic partnerships with key national affinity organizations (such asForte Foundation, Prospanica, AMBA, ROMBA and NAWMBA) which enhance the Program’s efforts to recruit and retain students from historically under-represented populations, and to develop successful programming. Oversee the liaison with local chapters. Develop and expand relationships with local diverse organizations with a focus on lead and application generation for MBA programs.
Track and analyze diversity admissions data. Evaluate performance of diversity initiatives relative to admission goals annually.
Leverage relationships with current students and alumni leaders for diversity insights and connections; and supports diversity student organizations.
Establishes relationships with internal and external constituencies relevant to the program’s diversity strategy.
Identify and actively participate in industry/function-specific conferences and professional association meetings and events.
Recruiting - 30%
Follow-up with prospective and newly admitted students from underrepresented groups. This includes managing an ongoing prospective candidate outreach plan and executing regular e-mails, phone calls, and scheduling on-campus meetings and student visits to ensure a personalized experience in the pre-matriculation phase of the student experience.
Evaluate applications for admission and participate in committee selection processes and recommend candidates for diversity scholarships.
Participate in developing the recruiting and admissions strategy. Coordinate and participate in corporate information sessions, brown bag presentations and visits.
Serve as key advisor to prospective students. Inform prospective students on MBA program options and advise candidates on program of best fit. Follow up with prospective student requests (via scheduled appointments, phone or e-mail; as well as walk-ins).
Lead and present MBA program information sessions for prospective MBA students.
Participate in and support MBA social media strategy via recruiting chats, blogs, virtual fairs, Twitter and Facebook.
Serve as a representative for Full-Time MBA domestic and international recruiting forums.
Participate in specialty recruiting events for Full-Time and Part-Time MBA programs.
Admissions - 25%
Conduct admissions interviews and provide recommendation for admission into the MBA program.
Review admissions applications and participate in admissions committee reviews for MBA programs.
Participate in the development of admissions and post-admission related materials for newly admitted students.
Serve as an advisor to students denied to the program, recommend opportunities for improving likelihood of admission or recommend alternative course of action.
Participate in new student orientations.
Administrative - 10%
Serve as a key member of the MBA Diversity Steering Committee.
Serve as subject matter expert for team on various MBA and Carson School programs.
Team with admissions group to define and manage admissions and recruiting budget.
Maintain memberships on various university and professional associations such as Forte and the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). Participate in professional conferences and workshops as appropriate.
Participate in school-wide activities & committees (such as Women’s Leadership Conference) as appropriate.
Participate and actively contribute at all levels of department staff meetings.
Participate in department projects/events as they arise and support as needed.
Represents the office at various internal and external events.

Minimum / Essential Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in business or related field required with 5 years of progressively responsible experience in admissions or marketing/recruiting of student programs.
Ability to travel regularly and work evenings and weekends.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SELECTION CRITERIA:
Higher Education Masters or MBA degree preferred.
Knowledge of the graduate admissions process, including recruitment, selection, and yield.
