Accelerate, Wentworth Innovation + Entrepreneurship Center was established in 2012 and offers programming to foster student engagement around innovation and entrepreneurship (http://www.wit.edu/accelerate). With a strong maker culture at play students work interdisciplinary with a focus on product creation and social impact.The Director, Programming will be able to impact and shape the increased innovation activity at Wentworth by developing and delivering programs and resources relevant to both, existing resident startup teams as well as entering emerging innovators. The Director will further oversee and professionalize the current operation to support strong and reliable programming while leading a small team.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1.Strategy ? Provide thought leadership on entrepreneurship, innovation, maker culture and how it can be amplified on and off campus articulating Accelerate?s vision.? Operationalize programming benchmarks to drive decision-making.? Collaborate with IA to foster and manage alumni engagement.? Exercise shared governance across innovation and experiential learning activities.2.Innovation + Entrepreneurship ProgrammingOversee existing programs such as the Startup Challenge, Social Innovation Lab, ThinkTanks, Maker Programming, Coaching/Mentoring Pipeline.? Strengthen and develop programs, topics, and resources tailored to the needs of emerging and experienced interdisciplinary startup teams as well as the expansion of innovation cultureacross campus.? Provide topics/programming to recruit new students to engage with Accelerate and buildcampus community.? Leverage internal partnerships to provide engagement opportunities for students, e.g. Startup Coop, Student Leadership, etc.? Nurture and initiate partnerships with student clubs, internal and external stakeholders, other higher education institutions, industry, and service providers to provide strong programming and enhance the student experience.? Serve as a liaison between workshop leaders, speakers, and judges and cultivate a solid network of speakers/judges.? Maintain and evolve a database of workshop leaders, speakers, judges, and alumni.3.Day-to-Day OperationsOversee all aspects of programming logistics, e.g. speaker coordination, marketing, room setup, audio/visual, catering, social media, newsletter content, photography, follow up.? Manage, build and develop Accelerate team members including recruiting, onboarding and managing student staff and orchestrating volunteers.? Operationalize Accelerate processes, assign team responsibilities, revise and improve as needed, and capture processes effectively for sustainability. ? Oversee Accelerate?s operational budget.4.Partner Management? Process external relations with companies, non-profits, governmental organizations within the innovation ecosystem? Develop engagement opportunities for external partners, alumni? Maintain and source external events/partnerships where Accelerate students can attend or represent Accelerate.? Coordinate with the Assistant Director, Team Development which teams are ready to be placed at external events.5.Accelerate?s Brand, Visibility + Communication?Develop inventory of internal/external partnership opportunities that would elevate Wentworth?s position in the innovation ecosystem. ?Sustain ongoing and initiate new partnerships/collaborative projects internally and externally to increase visibility.?Drive and oversee the production of content for Accelerate?s website, ThinkTank materials, videos, newsletters etc and its placement on the web and across social media channels. ?Promote Accelerate programming at open houses, student fairs, etc.?Assure reliable stakeholder communication to sustain engagement across students, faculty, alumni, external partners.?Work with Wentworth PR/Marketing to establish media awareness and coverage.
