Summary of Duties: The Web Designer provides coordination of design, development, publishing, and maintenance of websites for Washington State University's Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture. This position will also organize and maintain web components to ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
The Web Designer is detail-oriented, able to understand the technical complexities of a content management system (CMS), while also championing the larger content strategy and user experience.
The Web Designer specializes in web page creation and web content oversight. They thrive working in collaborative, creative, customer-driven environments and have a keen editorial eye. This position will report to the Marketing Director of WSU's Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture.
The Web Designer serves as an advocate for effective website content and enforces WSU's content quality standards by creating and maintaining front-end content governance processes and documentation, building web pages and reviewing other web producers' changes to ensure they meet WSU's editorial and technical guidelines.
This position will also support and update content taxonomies to optimize website content findability, share-ability, and consistency across Voiland College's web properties, with a focus on the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering and the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
This position also supports larger content strategies impacting navigation, recommendations, and on-site search results improving user interactions on Voiland College websites.
Required Qualifications: A Bachelors degree in information science or related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in web site design, development and maintenance. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
