Be your best at The Ohio State University! — Serves as Treatment Coordinator/Billing Specialist for the Dental Faculty Practice within the College of Dentistry: performs insurance predetermination of benefits, validates insurance coverage, and preauthorizations; discuss with patients treatment plans and payment arrangements; enters mainly dental coding but will need to be able to cross code to medical; ability to bill medical/dental carriers, appeals claims, and collection functions; serves as liaison between doctors, patients and payers. This position will be responsible for a group of provider?s A/R including timely filing and appealing accounts and processing accounts within the department?s policy. — Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. — This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check and drug and alcohol screening. — Work is performed primarily in an office environment and the employee in this class is subject to inside environmental conditions. This position requires sustained periods using a keyboard and performing other computer work. Requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to function in a general office environment to accomplish tasks.

Six months of experience in a healthcare cash-posting environment. Proficiency with computers and related software. Efficiency with 10 key calculators. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with government insurance such as: Medicaid, Caresource, Molina, Medicare, etc. Knowledge of dental billing practices and procedures; skill in operating personal computer and related medical billing software; ability to deal with problems involving insurance; ability to maintain accurate records; cooperate with co-workers; knowledge of customer service skills and the ability to apply in various situations; ability to answer routine inquires and resolve complaints from patients, third party payers and doctors. Three years of experience in a healthcare billing environment. Prior experience as a dental assistant a plus. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to use excel to track data.
