The Department of Chemistry at Virginia Military Institute invites applications for a full-time one-year visiting professorship beginning 01 August 2019. Duties will include teaching of general chemistry lectures, labs, and possibly upper level chemistry courses in area of specialty for 12 contact hours a semester. A Ph.D. is preferred, but candidates with an M.S. degree or other relevant experience will be considered. The Chemistry Department plans a future job search for a tenure-track analytical/instrumental position during the 2019-2020 academic year. The VMI Chemistry Department has seven tenure-track professors and two technicians, offers the ACS-approved degree in chemistry, and is well-equipped with modern instrumentation (e.g. differential scanning calorimeter, 400 MHz NMR, rotating-ring disk electrochemical setup, GC/MS, GC/FID, UV/VIS, FTIR, Raman spectrometer, fluorescence spectrometer, POM).
Virginia Military Institute is a state-supported four-year undergraduate military college of liberal arts, engineering, and the sciences. It is located in the southern Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
