The role is for a Business Auditor reporting to the AEJ Business Infrastructure (Operations, CRES, Corporate Communications) Acting Regional Portfolio Director. The principal role is to define and execute assurance work over Operations and Finance functions across AEJ. The candidate will work closely with the members of the Audit team in other regions with some limited travelling required.
Nomura AEJ Internal Audit currently comprises 22 permanent employees of which 12 are located in Hong Kong and 10 located in Singapore. Our team is performing risk-based audits across 11 countries in the region, and is also providing advisory services to senior management. The team covers all businesses including Global Markets, Investment Banking, Wealth Management, Asset Management and Merchant Banking.
Key responsibilities will cover all of AEJ and include:
Planning and execution of risk-based audits primarily of the AEJ Operations and Finance functions.
Identifying key emerging risks, and drafting and reporting audit findings promptly to line and senior management, suggesting practical and innovative solutions to these findings.
Responsibility for effective follow up and closure of issues raised in reports.
Performing annual risk assessments and assisting in developing the annual audit plan.
Building relationships with auditees and participating in the department's Continuous Monitoring programme that opines on (i) Changes to the Audit Universe; (ii) Changes to the underlying risk assessments, and (iii) Changes to the Audit Plan.
Identifying control themes to be included in management and Audit Committee presentations.
Learning and applying the department's audit methodology.
Key Experience & Skills
The candidate must possess strong communication and analytical skills.
Some knowledge and experience in data analytics is preferred.
Confident and can work independently. Strong sense of commitment and ownership. Ability to multi-task and be pro-active is essential.
The candidate should demonstrate the ability to influence and persuade auditees regarding control issues.
The candidate should possess strong technical knowledge of the Finance and Operations functions and good understanding of the Global Markets businesses.
The candidate is expected to have an accounting background or a professional qualification e.g. CPA. Experience of about 5-10 years either in an Operations and Finance audit function at an investment bank or combined investment banking experience and some time at a large accounting firm.
Some international experience is preferred.
