Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Business Analyst/Report Writer for the Office of Financial Aide. This position is under the supervision of the Associate University Director of Student Financial Aid/Technical Support. The Business Analyst/Report Writer joins a growing team responsible for delivering business-critical reporting and value-added data insights that meets the most important business needs. This positions work includes advanced technical programming activities, including creating SQL queries, views and stored procedures, testing, debugging, and maintaining customized reports.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Responsible for performing advanced technical and analytical work in the development and support of standardized and/or customized reports.
Assists in serving as the liaison between OIT and the Financial Aid Office to help maximize effectiveness when designing system processes and reports that meet the business needs of the office and ensures excellent service to our staff and students.
Develops detailed surveys for the Office of Institutional Research and produces annual Financial Aid University wide Graduate, Undergraduate, Professional and Federal Reports.
Writes reports to assist the Funds Management team to identify eligible candidates for scholarship awards.
Stays informed about impending regulatory requirement technical changes and timelines related to the submission of data to government agencies.
Provides input into the development and use of university-wide reports outcome and other performance improvement measures.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
A minimum of 5 years experience working in a financial aid office preferred; which must include 3 years of experience working with and supporting complex information systems.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to utilizes Federal software including but not limited to SAIG/EDconnect, EDExpress, in addition to Federal websites such as COD, FAAacess.
Additionally regular use and support of systems including FAMS, Mark IV, ImageNow, and websites/interfaces with ELM, HESAA.
Applications also include Microsoft OneNote, Project, Tableau, and Salesforce.
SQL report writing – essential knowledge of SQL to ensure that report writing is both accurate and timely.
Microsoft Office (Access and Excel)
Reports may be generated using MS Access, and output may need to be manipulated or provided using MS Excel.
Additionally basic understanding of Enterprise Content Management systems (ECM) such as ImageNow is beneficial.
Exposure to social media including Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram and other emerging apps and sites is also desirable.
Understanding of UNIX/SSH may also be useful.
In addition to the basics of MS Excel, knowledge of pivot tables
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to work lift 5-10 pounds.
