The University Wisconsin – Eau Claire seeks a Dean of Students. The Dean of Students promotes student success, access, and development across the university, coordinates the administration of student conduct procedures, and serves as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator. The Dean of Students reports to the Vice Chancellor for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Student Affairs (EDISA) and directly supervises the Directors of Counseling Services and Student Health Services, the Assistant Dean of Students, the Student Assistance Coordinator, and the Dean of Students Office Program Manager. The Dean of Students is an advocate for students and a resource for administrators, faculty and staff.
Provide operational direction and leadership for the planning, direction, management, budgeting, and evaluation of student life programs within the areas of the Dean of Students Office, Counseling Services, and Health Services.
Investigate and adjudicate student conduct cases, assign and advise on conduct cases to Dean of Students staff and others.
Serve as Student Affairs Officer and coordinate informal and formal hearings in accordance with UW System Administrative Rules and university policy.
Coordinate, supervise, and provide direct services to students in academic and personal difficulty. Coordinate care and concern and follow up with students with Dean of Students Office and affiliated staff.
Manage student emergencies and communicate with the campus as appropriate.
Address student, family, and community member concerns and complaints.
Act as a resource for family members of students requiring information and assistance.
Oversee campus contract with the Center for the Awareness of Sexual Assault.
Serve as the liaison and advisor to Student Government.
Be visible and available to students and student organizations and attend and participate in campus events and programs.
Chair the Behavior Intervention/Students of Concern Team and collaborate with faculty, staff and others to help students resolve problems in ways that promote intellectual and personal development.
Serve as Deputy Title IX Coordinator, coordinate sexual assault reporting to UW System, and ensure that required student Title IX trainings are conducted.
Assist in Clery Act documentation and compliance, serve on Clery Compliance Committee.
Develop strategies for promoting student engagement and learning in collaboration with Academic
Affairs and other campus divisions and personnel.
Support the missions, visions, and strategic plans of the university and EDISA Division.
Represent the university and advise the Vice Chancellor for EDISA and other administrators in matters related to student affairs.
Progressively responsible professional experience in a university setting.
Expertise in student development and student affairs
Excellent communication, crisis management, and student advocacy skills.
Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Leadership and supervisory experience.
Doctoral or other terminal degree.
Educational or professional background in mental health, social work, counseling, or related field.
