STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) Coordinator will build on existing practices and efforts to develop and coordinate CPL activities at Bristol. This individual will work with students and faculty in the development and administration of prior learning assessments, including professional development activities for faculty and staff. The Coordinator will work closely with academic leadership to ensure prior learning assessment activities meet the needs of Bristol students, as well as industry standards. This position supports students and furthers the College goals of seamless educational transition and accelerated learning across all college locations.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Dean of the Lash Division for Teaching and Learning.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist students to gain CPL; develop and deliver strategies to assist students in navigating the CPL process.
Collaborate with all areas of the College to promote CPL to prospective students.
Support faculty and staff to conduct CPL within their programs.
Provide professional development, related to CPL, to faculty and staff.
Coordinate activities and communications to students, faculty and staff related to CPL processes and opportunities.
Collaborate with Marketing & Communications to develop CPL promotions and maintain updated website content.
Utilize College information systems to collect, analyze, and maintain data for ongoing CPL activities and reporting.
Conduct CPL information sessions to prospective adult students.
Work in collaboration with Academic Affairs leadership to implement CPL activities across programs.
Coordinates the CPL Advisory Board.
Maintain knowledge of trends and practices in CPL through peer associations, attendance at local and statewide gatherings, and review of literature to ensure that that the College's practices align with Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), and other industry standards.
Assist with vetting related policies and processes through College governance.
Participate in statewide and regional collaborative efforts to support CPL, as available.
Produce periodic reports (i.e. monthly, annually).
Attend Lash Division meetings, program and College-wide meetings.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Dean, consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Must be a current Bristol Community College full-time faculty member to be considered for this position.
Demonstrated knowledge and/or dedicated commitment to experiential education and/or CPL.
Reliable transportation in order to travel to and from meetings, trainings, or work-sites as required.
Demonstrated commitment to managing projects focused on timelines, project deliverables, and the use of technology.
Ability to speak a language in addition to English.
TERM: Two years, beginning Fall 2019 through Spring 2021, with a renewable third-year term.
COMPENSATION: Two course releases per semester (6 credits total). Course releases may be periodically reviewed and subject to change.
