The candidate will join the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management Investment Solutions Platforms Team with an immediate focus on the following: 1) A performance reporting initiative for Alternative Investments. The project objective is to ensure that Morgan Stanley is appropriately characterizing transactions for Private Equity, Private Credit and Real Estate products ("illiquid alternative investment products") so that client and FA reporting is accurate. The candidate will work closely with the Alternative Investments Operations and Product Teams as well as third party funds and fund administrators on this initiative. 2) User Acceptance Testing ("UAT") for Alternative Investments and Traditional Products. The Investment Solutions Platforms team is responsible for leading strategic initiatives as well as application reengineering efforts for various products offered in Wealth Management with the ultimate goal of improving the financial advisor/client experience and increasing operational efficiency. The UAT team plays a key role in ensuring that these initiatives are high quality, defect free and delivered on time. 3) Run the Bank ("RTB") initiatives for Alternative Investments and Traditional Products. In addition to strategic initiatives the Investment Solutions Platforms team is also responsible for maintaining and prioritizing a catalogue of system enhancements that are required as the result of feedback from advisor, client and operations users. The candidate will be responsible for gathering and maintaining a list of these items, reviewing them with the team periodically to set prioritization and then working with IT to ensure that they are implemented in a timely manner. Key Responsibilities - Work closely with the Alternative Investments Operations team and 3rd party fund managers to ensure that Morgan Stanley is accurately reporting on illiquid alternative investment products. - Review fund activity for illiquid alternative investment products to determine appropriate characterization of transactions for a broker dealer reporting model (past transactions and go-forward). This will include the analysis of 3rd party fund reports (e.g. quarterly client reports and capital call/distribution notices). - Assist with the planning, testing and deployment of a reconciliation tool that will be built to validate that the alternative investments fund reporting at Morgan Stanley agrees to the 3rd party fund reporting (with the exception of known and acceptable deltas that are the result of a difference in perspectives). - Train and work closely with the Alternative Investments Operations team to ensure that they understand how to use the reconciliation tool. - Provide oversight to the Alternative Investments Operations team on the reconciliation tool to ensure that: 1) the reconciliation is being performed on a timely basis and 2)any differences identified are being investigated and resolved. -Provide oversight to the Alternative Investments Operations team to ensure that transactions are characterized appropriately before they are processed. -Work closely with the Alternative Investments Product teams and third party fund managers during new fund launches to ensure that the fund administrators will provide Morgan Stanley with all the transaction processing information that is required. -Assist with the development of business requirements with an emphasis on process redesign and improvement -Collaborate with IT, the Business areas and Operations on the development and management of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) scenarios -Conduct test planning and execution across various applications -Communicate test results to relevant stakeholders -Partner with cross-functional business units to communicate requirements, status and delivery of system enhancements -Coordinate with the technology team to escalate and resolve issues/defects as appropriate -Maintain disciplined program and project delivery in accordance with established standards
