This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position.This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
This position is designed to assist the program management team on its ambitious plan to embark on new program development. The College of Extended Studies is embarking on an ambitious roadmap of new programs. Approvals for new programs can be delayed due to missing hard deadlines for campus and CO approvals. CES needs a program analyst who can plan, track and maintain program development projects, ensuring that these are kept on track and maintained according to applicable processes and policies. In addition, this will strengthen CES engagement with SDSU Colleges through proactive reporting of project status and upcoming plans. This position is new to the organization. A successful candidate will have broad experience working with senior leadership positions in higher education program management, managing projects in domestic and international segments. Some specific duties include:
Develop project plans for all new program development. Maintain status of other program related projects such as international programs development, working with other international institutions in developing new programs, and strategic engagements with third parties such as military, veteran’s affairs, workforce development boards, etc.
Serve as initial point of contact for all new program requests
Serve as project manager for all new program development
Implement SmartSheets for managing program development
Develop process metrics to ensure programs move through the requisite steps from idea to launch
Support development of program advisory boards
Act as external liaison between new program development team and program constituents in the initial phases of program development, until program hits initial launch
Use Tableau to run and distribute enrollment reports for existing programs and analyze data to forecast projections
Support the planning and implementation of regular program management meetings to track and report on progress in program development plans
Support the Executive Director and Associate Dean in anticipating potential risks, and developing mitigation plans at every phase in the development cycle
Produce requisite documents and presentations at the executive level to campus and external stakeholders as needed
Utilize SalesForce to manage the engagement process with key stakeholders across the program units, within and external to SDSU

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $5,334 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,897 - $6,846 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.
Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills
Highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications e.g. Excel, PowerPoint
Highly proficient in Google Suite, SmartSheets, LMS systems and SalesForce
Must have experience working with executive levels within a university, up to and including the Provost’s office
Experience working in the public and private sectors
A minimum of four or more years in higher education
Experience launching and managing international programs
Experience performing and disseminating reports based on market-driven research
Proven track record in handling highly-confidential initiatives for senior leadership
Entry qualifications as described above (Bachelor’s degree).
Working knowledge of general practices, program, and/or administrative specialty. Basic knowledge of and ability to apply fundamental concepts. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures.
Ability to learn, interpret, and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures relating to and impacting the applicable program, organizational unit, and/or administrative specialty.
Knowledge of basic methods and procedures for research and statistical analysis and the ability to apply them.
Ability to analyze data and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistical techniques.
Ability to organize and plan work and projects including handling multiple priorities.
Ability to make independent decisions and exercise sound judgment.
Ability to compile, write, and present reports related to program or administrative specialty.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within and outside the work group and serve as a liaison for the organizational unit.
Certification in advanced analytics
Knowledge of SDSU/CES business operations practices
Working knowledge of CES registration and reporting system
Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and applications quickly
Accountability to high-quality deliverables, balancing multiple, competing high priorities
Ability to communicate professionally both verbally and written, including experience writing professional documents
Demonstrated ability establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
Drafting strategic planning documents at the executive level
Experience facilitating strategic planning work groups
