Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Associate Research Technician.
In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for performing basic laboratory experiments, and a variety of experiments of routine nature, collaborating with lab members on different projects, contributing the organization of the lab and providing support for various aspects of experimental research. Works under general supervision.
DNA related techniques: preparation of plasmids, gel electrophoresis, cloning of vector constructs
Histologic studies: routine histologic stains, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization
Mouse husbandry, assistance in maintenance of a mouse colony and performance of microsurgery including, but not limited to eye lid suture, eye enucleation and cranial window placement
Protein chemistry: protein expression, protein quantification, Western blotting, co-immunoprecipitation studies and pulldown experiments
Procurement of supplies, the scientific maintenance of the laboratory and the organization of research material
Image analysis with computer programs, data management, laboratory notebook maintenance
Library research and database analysis, preparation of manuscripts, upkeep of written records, of experimental procedures and data analysis
Instruct students and others in molecular biology methodology and laboratory instrument operation and participate and present data at lab meetings
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: This is an entry level trainee position with no experience necessary and a Bachelors of Science Degree in Life Sciences or a related field is not required (but preferred). Experience in some areas of basic cellular immunology, molecular biology, tissue culture would be advantageous but is not required. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications: A Bachelor's of Science Degree in Life Sciences or a related field is preferred. Experience in laboratory specific organization of processes, operation and maintenance of equipment, and documentation of performed experiments is preferred, but not required. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Must be able to multi-task and work independently
