At Baylor Scott & White McClinton Cancer Center, our goal is to give patients and families the physical, emotional and spiritual support needed during their cancer journey. We treat cancers ranging from skin and gynecological cancers to breast and blood cancers. We also use integrative medicine, which combines modern medicine with complementary health services - such as acupuncture and massage - to heal both biological and psychological problems. Some of the services offered include Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Lymphedema services, and a 29-bay Outpatient Infusion department. Also available to families is Jamie's Place, a free grief support program located in Waco for kids ages 5-18 and parents or caregivers. Jamie's Place is available to families who have experienced the death of a loved one due to any cause. Services provided include education, referrals and support groups for kids and families.
Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, the Director of Cancer Center Operations provides strategic direction for the business management of the Baylor Scott & White McClinton Cancer Center, including establishing and monitoring multi-year business plans, setting and monitoring unit goals, managing the internal and external reputation of the clinics supervised, and building business capability and profitability. This Director oversees the planning, organization, development and management of the overall operations of a division. This includes terminal responsibility for finances, facility management, staffing, reputation building and public perception. The Director has responsibility for managing staff, budget, physician relations, facilities resourcing, compliance activities, operations planning, process improvement and inter-department relations; public relations, and establishing and executing mid range and long-term plans.

Hires employees based on their skills and fit for the jobs, trains and develops subordinates, and evaluates their performance against standards established.
Initiates actions to improve employee satisfaction and engagement and recognizes significant accomplishments.
Establishes production goals; aligns and prioritizes initiatives to ensure completion of high impact results and improvements.
Builds bench strength and provides for succession planning at lower levels of management.
Creates and manages multiple budgets for the departments supervised maximizing return on investment of staff and use of facilities.
Routinely reports on progress against goal, adjusting resources and services to meet requirements for the business.
Proposes upgrades to staff and facilities as needed and retools resources as appropriate.
Manages projects for organizational expansion, acquisitions, facility moves and facility refits.
Establishes effective advocacy models for physician and patient concerns and sets standards for problem resolutions, involving appropriate levels of employees.
Provides last intervention point for resolution of patient and physician interventions.
Establishes and teaches others to create an atmosphere supportive of positive employee and physician relations.
Provides opportunities to grow team capabilities.
Identifies, analyzes and resolves operational problems as they arise and implements systems and solutions to prevent recurring issues as identified by patients who frequent the clinics.
Sponsors change initiatives across departments.
Creates workflows and standards for employees that support operational excellence and compliance with Joint Commission standards.
Promotes changes to improve revenue cycle operations as it applies to the clinic.
Initiates service recovery plans and works to continuously improve access to and level of customer service.
Orients new provider staff to the clinic operations, Baylor Scott & White protocols, and clinic practices to better patient care.
Helps staff develop and maintain good relationships with physicians and other providers.
Builds relationships with other departments, highlighting successes and requesting cooperation as needed to achieve clinic goals.
Creates Baylor Scott & White visibility and presence in the community, getting staff involved in important community initiatives that support healthy lifestyles and the mission, ambition and values of Baylor Scott & White Health
PREFERRED CANDIDATE PROFILE
Master's Degree (Bachelor's required)
Operational leadership experience of a Cancer Center
Ability to function within a highly-matrixed environment
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle challenging people and situations
Proven track record of leading successful teams and driving positive patient outcomes
Experience working within a Magnet or Pathways to Excellence facility and understand of the Shared Governance model
