Contracts Analyst, Office of Sponsored Programs-2012482
Carnegie Mellon University is dedicated to building and disseminating knowledge through research. The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) contributes directly to this mission by providing comprehensive support to faculty and staff in the administration of externally sponsored research. The Contract Team, within the OSP office, assists faculty and researchers in completing contracts with sponsors (both corporations and the government). In addition, also handles discussions of such issues as intellectual property, confidentiality, publications, and any other contractual concerns.
OSP is seeking a Contract Analyst to join the team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing professional level support in the area of preparation and negotiation of agreements. These agreements may include federal contracts, educational project agreements, non-disclosure agreements, visitor agreements, software licenses, material transfer agreements, outgoing subcontracts, and other agreements as required. You, in conjunction with a Contract Officer or Subcontracts Administrator, will exercise independent discernment to ensure that the aforementioned contractual agreements are entered into on terms that are acceptable to the CMU.
Core responsibilities include:
Initiating contract process with faculty and/or sponsor and managing agreements though full lifecycle from concept to completion
Reviewing legal and contractual issues of proposed agreements to revise and negotiate agreements to align with university policies and relevant laws related to sponsored research
Reviewing federal contracting clauses and maintaining the federal clause database of University's standard position for each clause
Assisting Contracts Officers with negotiating Sponsored Research Agreements as well as with the preparation of any other necessary and/or requested documents, materials or information
Documenting and monitoring the contract negotiation lifecycle
Overseeing OSP mailboxes, logging incoming requests to departmental tracking system, capturing information necessary for drafting agreements, and communicating with departments regarding requests
Assisting Subcontracts Administrator by processing fully executed subcontract agreements, including official University transmittal, creation of purchase orders, and maintenance of OSP databases
Preparing and reviewing amendments to subcontracts both federal and non-federal
Bachelor's degree required
At least 3 year's of relevant experience requires
