JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the IRB AssociateDirector, the Institutional Review Board (IRB) Administrator is responsible forreviewing research protocol submissions to assure that protocol procedures andthe consent process are structured in a manner that meets the requirements offederal, state, and institutional regulations and policies governing humanresearch and privacy, and where appropriate, grant approval for theInstitutional Review Board.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interpretsand applies federal and state regulations and policies, and institutionalpolicies relevant to human research and privacy.
Completescomprehensive reviews of IRB post approval activities and identifies regulatoryissues as well as institutional policy issues and makes recommendations.
Overseesand coordinates the preparation of continuation/renewal applications for reviewby the full convened IRB and ensures that all relevant documents are providedto the reviewers IRB members.
Managesthe preparation of IRB continuation/renewal, amendment/revision applications,and miscellaneous applications.
ProvidesIRB related recommendations and assists with the management of the IRBelectronic system, iMedRIS.
Assistsand trains IRB members in the electronic submission, review and approvalprocess.
Assistsfaculty, staff, and student researchers and study/research coordinatorsregarding use of the IRB electronic system and IRB submissions.
Performsother department duties as assigned.
