Budget Title: Staff Associate (SL-4)
Binghamton University Residential Life is seeking a full-time, 12-month renewable position for a Crisis Management and Student Success Administrator who will assist with the department's response and connection to care for residential students who may need additional support and resources to succeed. Through supervision of graduate interns from the MSW program, this staff member will provide oversight of service provision to students in our 6 residential communities.
Serves as MSW Intern clinical supervisor for 10-15 graduate-level interns with oversight of their learning plan and development of professional competencies in their roles
Assists in crisis response and case management functions for the department, communicating with graduate and professional staff in Residential Life to provide necessary follow-up and referral to students
Oversight of case management for residential students utilizing Maxient software by assigning, maintaining, and updating student cases
Serve on campus-wide collaborative duty rotation with Dean of Students and Residential Life staff
Assist with representing the department at Student of Concern (SOC) committee, providing updates and overseeing SOC recommended follow-up care by Residential Life
Assist with representing the department on Title IX working group to assist reporting individuals and follow protocols and processes around investigations and provision of services
Point of contact and liaison for parents, guardians and families who may have a student in housing with referral or other support needs
Coordinate and collaborate with Dean of Students Care Team; University Counseling Center; Decker Student Health Services; Services for Students with Disabilities, International Student Support Services; Educational Opportunity Program; Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; and others as needed
Assist with providing staff training to undergraduate student, graduate student, and professional staff training in areas of crisis response, assisting students of concern, topical areas of student support needs, and other pertinent training
Assist developing and implementing departmental initiatives involving diversity and inclusivity education, policy revision, and best practices
Participate in broad departmental initiatives to refine student support programs and residential community development
Masters of Social Work (MSW) degree required, with 2 years of relevant work experience in a professional setting post-Masters
Licensure or eligibility for licensure to practice in New York (i.e., meeting all criteria for licensure except supervision hours and/or licensing exam; or licensed in another state with clearly comparable licensing requirements)
Demonstrated skill and experience in case management, preferably in a student affairs setting
Organizational and computer skills to effectively maintain a tracking system
Demonstrated competency in crisis response and working with a team-based approach to providing care
Collaborative spirit of warmth, acceptance, and respect for students and colleagues. Team oriented and "user friendly" for students and campus constituents
Multicultural awareness, knowledge, responsiveness, and commitment in facilitating treatment for a diverse student population
Ability to handle spontaneous work demands while undertaking projects that require advanced planning
Availability to serve on duty and attend to campus within a reasonable amount of time should a critical need arise
Availability and willingness to participate in occasional evening or weekend activities
Experience working directly with traditionally college-aged populations, specifically with mental health needs
Preference may be given to candidates who have supervised MSW graduate interns in any capacity as an agency representative
Experience working within a residential life or housing department on a college campus
