The Role Responsibilities
The International Accounting Standard Board (IASB) published the final version of the International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS 9) Financial Instruments in July 2014. As part of the requirements, SCB has developed capabilities to implement the requirements for Impairment assessment. These capabilities are now in place and work is underway to fully embed all new and amended processes into a BAU environmentThis role is required to support the ECL Calculation Team in the planning, preparation and execution of the ECL Month End Processes and to support the ongoing optimisation and improvements to the Target Operating Model with respect to timeliness, accuracy, controls and governance
Assist with the coordination of the end to end IFRS9 month end run plan to ensure tasks are completed on time and delays are escalated and mitigated appropriately
Responsible for working with individual teams across the organisation in Risk, Technology, Data, and Finance to ensure that Impairment output is produced in accordance with the Target Operating Model
Develop and monitor controls activity best practice that will be carried out by the ECL Calculation team to ensure that good governance is followed and evidence of the operation of effective controls are captured appropriately
Assist in the establishment of the Department Operating Instructions (DOI) in respect to the ECL production run.
Assist in the establishment and management of IFRS9 model monitoring run process.
Establish and manage process for managing simulation request on the "What If" IFRS9 environment. Work with stakeholders to prioritise and establish requirements for requested simulations.
Assist the Head of the ECL Calculation team in the management and resolution of key issues identified during ECL output review and engage other teams to drive resolution (ECL Change Team, Technology, Data, Modelling Teams)
Participate in and provide meeting materials to manage and track the month end run plan
Participate in the management and remediation of defects identified during the Production run and ensure they are routed to the appropriate owner for prioritisation and resolution
Support accurate and timely reporting of Impairment output
Identify and evaluate risks and issues and devise and implement effective mitigation strategies in conjunction with ECL Production team members
Manage Stakeholders across the organisation effectively, escalating issues via Line Management where necessary
Our Ideal Candidate
Previous experience of Regulatory Programmes and in particular IFRS9 and SAS solutions
Previous experience or exposure in the Financial Services industry working with UK/European regulations
Excellent Stakeholder management skills and Senior Management engagement
Experience of business process definition and re-engineering
An understanding of test processes & defect management
Ability to work independently and within strict timelines in a pressured environment to meet project targets and deadlines
Experience of Governance and Assurance Activities
Excellent organizational, problem solving, and written/verbal communication skills
Accounting background or experience working in Financial Control/Reporting environment within a large financial institution would be desirable
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Familiar with Microsoft Office applications
Knowledge of SCB systems / processes / Finance organisation
