CIB F&BM - Global Commodities Group - Product Control - Associate - London Description
The EMEA Gas, Coal & Emissions and EMEA/Asia Oil Product Control team consists of 4 professionals supporting 13 traders across London and Singapore.
The primary underliers are UK and European Gas, EUAs, Global Coal, Brent and WTI products. The businesses trade ICE/NYMEX futures and options, as well as with OTC counterparties for forwards, options and other derivatives. In addition, the Emissions business holds physical inventory.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of derivative products, combined with a financial reporting and control mindset. They must be comfortable with complex structured transactions and have a strong understanding of the operational risks around the end-to-end product lifecycle. Communication skills are particularly essential as the candidate will have a lot of daily face to face interaction with a demanding front office spanning different regions and time zones and will need to co-ordinate relationships across departments including Finance, Market risk, Technology and Operations.
Supervising of daily P&L, review of breaks between risk management system and PnL aggregator, explain differences to trader predicts, provide Greek based market commentary, obtain trader sign off;
Reviewing month-end controls such as balance sheet substantiation, adjustments review and substantiation and reconciliation of the P&L reported through books and records.
Supervising Market Risk Reporting process for EMEA Energy;
Working closely with external reporting team for regulatory reporting requirements;
Acting as point person of the team & resolving any escalated issues;
Review PnL explains, Clean and Dirty buckets, understand and explain P&L residuals;
Continuous improvement to the system infrastructure & control environment;
Ensuring team has adequate training and product knowledge;
Coordination key business partners across Finance and other areas on projects and issue resolution;
Sk ills Required
Knowledge of Commodities markets, specifically the Energy businesses, would be beneficial.
Ability to communicate effectively across the organisation, both orally and in writing;
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills;
Good understanding of derivative products & inventory valuation;
Ability to manipulate large volumes of data efficiently;
A flexible proactive approach, ability to adapt to business change;
Demonstrates good Excel skills;
Pro-activity in identifying control gaps, defining resolution and taking to closure;
Team Orientated and motivated self-starter with a positive "can do" attitude;
Influencing skills to manage relationships with diverse groups internally and externally;
Experience of leading team would be beneficial;
