Within Wealth Management, the Global Controls Management (GCM) organization's primary function is to (i) ensure a sustainable and disciplined end-to-end control environment for WM; (ii) identify and escalate issues with a sense of urgency; and, (iii) partner with the business to ensure timely remediation of issues. Global Controls Management works in partnership with the business, as the first line of defense. The team assists in immediate, real time critical control issue detection, escalation, root cause analysis and remediation. In addition, the team works in collaboration with all other control functions - Compliance, Risk, Audit, and Legal. Responsibilities:
This position can be based in Singapore, the candidate will be help to perform control assessments & quality reviews, assisting in immediate, real time problem detection and escalation. Working closely with Business, Compliance & Technology will also assist in defining the scope of monitoring and surveillance of business activities
Additionally responsible for multiple components in delivering the team's core mission to Wealth Management overall, including
Partnering with Client Facing Employees and other key stakeholders as subject matter experts
Ongoing monitoring of Key business activities on adherence to policies/procedures/regulatory requirement, extending to the below responsibilities: Review of Call & Voice Memos to ensure adherence to Trade Suitability, Cross Border Governance
Checking of various regulatory indicators (Pre-trade risk disclosure on derivatives, structured products etc.)
Regular liaison with Senior Management - presentation of findings to Market Managers, Investment Team Leaders
Recommending solutions to address gaps identified to help close issues relating to audit matters
Regular follow-up to track progress, escalations and investigations of key issues
MIS production/reporting and committee updates
To participate and manage the RCSA process which identifies, assesses, and monitors operational risk across the firm.
Participate and escalate remediation efforts including implementation of action plans associated with regulatory issues
Build and maintain excellent relationships with internal partners and colleagues
Opportunity to drive technology as well as other initiatives on behalf of the BQA Asia team
Coordinates with the business to assess the effectiveness of the control environment and to raise and escalate control issues through the relevant governance committees.
Work with Business to prepare for regulatory, audit and compliance examinations. Provide advice on the design of any action plans required.
Help facilitate the NBIA (New Business Initiative Approvals) Committee, which approves new business initiatives or significant process changes.
7-10 years controls, audit, operational risk, compliance, or equivalent experience in complex financial enterprises
Good command of Cantonese/Mandarin to be able to review voicelogs would be a bonus
Knowledge of wealth management businesses, risk & controls preferred
Good interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to successfully engage a broad range of individuals across various business segments and key support functions
Exceptional critical thinking, project management, analytical and communication skills with the ability to directly address conflicts and escalate issues where appropriate
Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic business environment, and continually reprioritize to focus on the key issues / topics
Excellent skills using Excel and MS PowerPoint tools efficiently
Can clearly articulate the processes supporting a business unit's function, controls, business priorities, impact on financial reporting, issues and risks associated with operational and IT infrastructure; can identify gaps and proactively help develop solutions.
Ability to learn new concepts, systems, processes, and initiatives
