Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sr. Financial Analyst.
In this role, the successful candidate the Senior Financial Analyst for the Tisch Hospital, Kimmel Pavilion and Rusk Rehabilitation Mission is responsible for performing general ledger accounting, financial reporting and analysis that support the overall financial results of the Hospital. The Sr. Financial Analyst reports to the Director of the Tisch, Kimmel & Rusk Mission within NYU Langone Hospital and will provide day to day support to the Director. Responsibilities will include, assisting in strategic planning, operational and capital budgeting, forecasting activities, creating and submitting accounting entries, creating and analyzing reports, collecting, compiling, and analyzing information in an easy to understand manner, as well as ad-hoc requests that may come from the VP of Finance. The Sr. Financial Analyst should have a good understanding of budget assumptions and criteria to investigate causes of variances with respective departments to provide explanations and solutions to justify the variances.
Assists with special projects as needed.
Incorporate new technologies, systems and processes to improve the daily operations of the Tisch Hospital, Kimmel Pavilion and Rusk Rehabilitation Mission Department.
Provides the Tisch Hospital, Kimmel Pavilion and Rusk Rehabilitation Operations group with financial analyses.
Assists in annual and monthly operating budget planning.
Provides a monthly budget performance report which includes analyzing differences between budget and actual performance for both revenue and expenses.
Manages the NYUHC Capital budget requests to ensure that the allotted pool is fiscally managed.
Investigate causes of variance with respective departments in order to identify operational and financial opportunities.
Utilizing the general ledger system (PeopleSoft) to provide budgetary and actual information using trends and projections.
Utilizes the Cost Accounting System [EPSi] to obtain Profit & Loss, Contribution Margin, Payor Rates, Trending and opportunities. This relates to both Inpatient and Outpatient population.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree with a major in a business subject (e.g. accounting, finance, economics) and 3-5 years of related experience. A graduate in business or public administration is preferred. Other minimum qualifications include: excellent oral and written communication skills, analytical skills, problem solving skills, and a comprehensive knowledge all applications within Microsoft Office; specifically with Excel. He or She must know vlookups, pivot tables, sub-totals, and other Excel functions.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree; Proficient in utilizing Tableau or similar tool; Experience with a not-for-profit, healthcare institution and a cost or general accounting background preferred.
