This position will serve as the Water Quality specialist for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Onondaga County and will implement Water Quality programming for a menu of existing Water Quality educational programs and activities. This position will be responsible for the delivery of established Water Quality programming and activities, both on-site and off-site to residents, visitors, municipal leaders and community organizations in the Skaneatles Lake Watershed in accordance with the Program Area's Plan of Work. This position is responsible for carrying out the delivery of established Skaneteles Lake Watershed resident and municipal education and outreach program for the City of Syracuse, and providing general water quality education and outreach throughout Onondaga County with an emphasis on invasive species, land use and water pollution source and control. This position will also coordinate all administrative aspects of the Water Quality Program and will assist the Team Leader with marketing and fundraising efforts as needed. Additionally, this positon will also be responsible for facilitating and leading community deer management groups by remaining substantively neutral in assisting these groups to improve the process it identifies to solve deer management problems. This position will work to provide leadership for community deer management groups by effectively fostering partnerships and information networks, creating a decision-making process that is regarded as fair and credible among stakeholders, and to facilitate discussion that leads to a common community purpose.

Utilize established program resources and materials in program work.
Implement, existing water quality programming, to include, but not limited to:
Implement already-established water quality educational programing and activities in support of other programming efforts as identified/needed to support the established Plan of Work.
Implement already-established water quality education programming and activities in a variety of delivery methods.
Under the direction and oversight of the Team Leader, obtain specialized assistance in delivering programs and materials such as technical information, software assistance, administrative requirements, identifying target audience and appropriate means of outreach.
Occasionally apply established subject matter knowledge to create lesson plans as identified.
Provide water quality educational programs via mass media.
Work to foster acceptance of the Natural Resources program, methods and policies while addressing community and individual needs and considering diverse audiences.
Serve as a team member and cooperate with the entire Association and Natural Resources Program staff to achieve Association program delivery goals.
Evaluation - 10%
Implement program evaluation as designed.
Interact with program participants to obtain evaluation data, to include: evaluating effectiveness of classes within program areas for all water quality programs.
Assist Team Leader in the process of analyzing program data, and based on that analysis, assist in making recommendations for improvements in program offerings.
Communicate evaluation findings to constituents as appropriate.
Direction - 5%
Assist in the planning and promotion of major public events and programs including, but not limited to: assisting with mass media efforts related to upcoming events and programs.
Assist in the planning for volunteer opportunities to expand program offerings and outreach efforts.
Assist in identifying opportunities for water quality fund development activities.
Management - 5%
Under the direction of the Team Leader, provide program guidance to program staff in accordance with established practices and procedures.
Assist Team Leader in identifying and recommending program needs (i.e. program supplies and materials).
Provide management of volunteers to include: recruitment of volunteers, volunteer orientation and training, and serving as a resource to guide volunteer activity and involvement.
Provide program guidance and information to volunteers as needed.
Coordination/Operation - 5%
Organize and coordinate activities related to Water Quality Programming.
Provide administrative support for fund development activities as identified.
Coordinate, compile and organize existing program resources and program materials.
Coordinate topical Water Quality workshops, symposiums and events.
Coordinate and compile outreach brochures and newsletters.
Provide coordination for water quality monitoring and invasive species control and monitoring.
Maintain the Skaneateles Lake Watershed website and social media outreach.\
Facilitate community deer management groups by remaining substantively neural in assisting these groups to improve the process it identifies to solve deer management problems.
Effectively maintain professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication and facilitate continued programming efforts.
Assist in utilizing effective marketing strategies in the promotion of programming efforts to include, but not limited to: print media, news media, social media, and multi-media efforts.
This position may require the transport of program participants and/or program materials and resources in performing position responsibilities.
