Role Description JPMorgan is looking for an exceptional executive to lead the Global Alternatives Compliance organization supporting global Asset Management. Compliance provides advice and counsel to prevent and detect violations of all applicable laws, rules and policies and helps the firm navigate a dynamic regulatory environment. As a robust control function, Compliance seeks to manage risk and deepen the culture of compliance through the development and management of strategies that are sustainable, timely and innovative.
This forward-thinking individual will continue to develop a world class organization, specifically by owning the compliance agenda for the global alternatives asset management business. This individual will lead a global staff focused on real estate, hedge funds, fund of funds, private equity, and real assets. This individual will need to collaborate with colleagues in legal and risk, as well as other compliance professionals, to ensure the business is provided with sound guidance and effective oversight.
This is a high-profile role on the Asset Management CEO's operating committee. The role will be highly visible to the firm-wide CCO and CEO of Asset & Wealth Management, and therefore the right candidate must be an agent for change and drive results.
Specifically, this leader will:
Provide leadership and management for a geographically dispersed international team. Display appropriate levels of assertiveness to project stature for the function across the organization
Build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
Lead a high performing compliance team that is execution focused and disciplined in approach
Achieve results by setting clear priorities, ambitious development goals and by holding the management team accountable
Provide thought leadership by leading change through an entrepreneurial mindset
Drive operational efficiencies by setting measurable goals, and working on leveraging and deploying new and existing technologies to improve efficiencies
Encourage and support routine communication across the globe in all areas of the business
15 years of prior experience, preferably leading a large compliance risk organization for a large financial services organization, with the ability to understand, interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements to business practices
Demonstrable experience providing leadership and guidance to a large international team, including the ability to make tough talent decisions
Ability to engage, collaborate with and influence a broad stakeholder group that include business leaders, legal, technology, risk, finance and HR
Strong operations orientation with the proven ability to design scalable processes and use analytics and technology solutions to mitigate risk and increase efficiencies
Superior judgment and rigor in relation to problem solving and appropriate escalation of issues
Excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to interface with, and influence key internal and external stakeholders and foster collaboration
Strong leadership and management skills with a proven ability to build and lead high performing teams
The ability to develop and articulate strategy and long-term objectives for others in an engaging and collaborative manner
Experience continuously reassessing compliance risks inherent to the Asset Management business. This will include taking into account changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, policy changes that could impact the business, operating procedures and practices, and the impact of new technology
