This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Office Specialist 2 position for the Tillamook County Extension Office at Oregon State University (OSU). This position will be located in Tillamook, Oregon.
This position exists in the Tillamook County Office of the Oregon State University Extension Service. The Extension Service mission is to educate Oregonians by delivering research-based, objective information to help them solve problems, develop leadership, and manage resources wisely. Informal, off-campus educational opportunities provided through the Tillamook County Extension office focus on the following Extension Program Areas:
4-H/Youth Development, Agriculture, Dairy, Family & Community Development, Extension Sea Grant, Forestry, and Water Resources & Community Development. These opportunities are directed primarily at the more than 24,000 residents of Tillamook County but also benefit Extension clientele regionally and nationally. The Extension Service is an important link between Oregonians and the education and research resources of Oregon State University.
The purpose of this position is to help the OSU Extension Service deliver educational programs to the people of Tillamook County. To that end, the position provides secretarial support to primarily county Extension faculty and Extension program assistants. Additionally, this position is usually the first and often the only personal contact clientele has with OSU and with Extension so therefore must possess excellent people skills and demonstrate professionalism and competence.
This position serves as primary office receptionist and program support of Extension programs.
This position is funded by local government through a permanent tax base for the Tillamook County 4-H & Extesion Service District.
Two years of general clerical experience. One year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR An Associate’s degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience. College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months. Offers of employment are contingent upon meeting all minimum qualifications including the Criminal History Check Requirement.
This position requires driving a University vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the University; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle History Check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per OSU Standard 576-056-0000 et seq. Offers of employment are contingent upon meeting all minimum qualifications including the Motor Vehicle Check Requirement.
This position is full time. Office hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday. Ability to attend some evening and weekend events.
