The School of Nursing in the College of Health and Natural Sciences of Spalding University, Louisville, Kentucky, established in 1933 and the oldest baccalaureate-nursing program in Kentucky, is currently accepting applications for the Director of the Baccalaureate Nursing Program (BSN). Responsibilities include implementing a Concept Based Curriculum through teaching, administration, and management of the tracks of the BSN Program. This is a twelve-month tenure track appointment. The BSN and MSN Programs are fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The Director of the BSN program in Nursing will serve as the academic and administrative officer for the BSN Program in Nursing. This position is the primary contact for the BSN Program of the School of Nursing in the professional and civic communities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to the policies and procedures contained in the Spalding University Faculty Governance Document, Bylaws of the Faculty Organization of the School of Nursing, and the Policies and Procedures of the School of Nursing, the following duties and responsibilities are assigned to the Director of the BSN Program:
Collaborates with the Chair of the School, other program directors of the School, faculty and clinical affiliates in all matters related to the development and quality control of the curriculum, use of resources, faculty assignments, academic advising, enrollment management, strategic planning and marketing.
Participates in the evaluation and recommendation of faculty for initial appointment, reappointment, promotion, tenure, sabbatical, teaching assignments, and attendance at off-campus workshops.
Serves as an ex-officio member of the SON Coordinating Council and all standing and ad hoc committees of the BSN Program;
Prepares proposed budgetary needs for the BSN Program for submission to the Chair of the School of Nursing;
Collaborates with faculty in preparing the master schedule of course offerings;
Facilitates communication among students, faculty, University departments and services regarding relevant issues, policies and procedures.
Collaborates with other Schools and support services of the University on behalf of the BSN Program;
Prepares reports and fulfills other duties as requested by the Chair of the School Nursing.
SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Earned doctorate in nursing (PhD, EdD, DNP) or currently enrolled with a timeline for degree completion; Masters of Science in nursing required**
5 years. nursing experience (immediate past 7 years)**
Active/unencumbered RN license**
2 years full time teaching experience in baccalaureate nursing education or higher**
Current knowledge of nursing practice at BSN/Registered Nurse level**
Demonstrated experience/preparation in education including teaching adults, adult learning theory teaching methods, curriculum development and evaluation**
Demonstrated commitment to inclusiveness and collegiality in personal and professional work and mentoring students and faculty on the importance of multicultural and multidisciplinary applications
Distinguished record of nursing educational leadership and educational or clinical scholarship.
Experience in contemporary curriculum development and program development, including a concept-based curriculum.
Demonstrated leadership in strategic communication, problem solving, and shared governance.
