The Women's Leadership & Student Involvement Intern will work from our Chalon Campus under the direct supervision of the Associate Director. This is an experiential opportunity and is meant to support an individual who is currently working towards a graduate degree related to the field of Higher Education and Student Affairs. This position works at the Chalon campus but will also gain knowledge of the program at the Doheny campus through collaboration on projects and tasks across the two campuses. The intern will be responsible for assisting with program planning and development, workshops, and outreach/publicity in collaboration with Women's Leadership and Student Involvement staff while gaining exposure of the operation of an administrative unit within Student Affairs. This position is part-time, limited term, and non-exempt. Working hours are 15-20 hours per week during the hours of 8:00am and 4:30pm Monday through Friday, during the academic year. Some evening and weekend hours will be required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists the AVP for Student Affairs and Women's Leadership and Associate Director of Women's Leadership with the development, planning, and coordination of student leadership programs that may include internal leadership conferences, leadership retreats, and leadership workshops at the Chalon campus.
Works closely with the Associate Director to support the Student Government Association (SGA) and National Society for Leadership & Success (NSLS) through leadership workshops, retreats, and on-going mentoring.
Works closely with the AVP and Associate Director to support the coordination and implementation of division-wide assessment plan.
Provides general support to Chalon Clubs and Organizations by assisting with related events, trainings, assessment, and workshops.
Conducts research related to programs and services to support departmental objectives for Strategic Plan initiatives.
Attends, supports, and supervises some evening and weekend events.
Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provides general administrative assistance in the Women's Leadership and Student Involvement office including answering phones, taking messages, and assisting walk-in guests.
2. Provides administrative and programmatic support for Women's Leadership and Student Involvement at both campuses as needed.
Understanding of and sensitivity to, a college environment and students' needs.
Abilities and Skills:
Effectively organize, prioritize and handle multiple tasks to meet established deadlines.
Currently enrolled in a Master's program in higher education, student affairs, or comparable field.
Minimum of one year previous experience in a diverse office environment required.
Experience working with diverse student populations, preferred.
Event planning, group facilitation and presentation experience.
