The Office of Student Affairs has an immediate opening for a full-time Coordinator of International Student and Scholar Support. The coordinator will support a thriving community of international students from pre-matriculation through post-graduation via advising, programming, and support services. Additionally, the coordinator will ensure the university and international students are in compliance in regards to appropriate paperwork and processes.
Primary Position Responsibilities include:
Ensure compliance with all federal regulations regarding Bellarmine's international student and scholar programs.
Advise and educate international students, international scholars (including short-term visitors, postdoctoral fellows, academic and research faculty, and staff), and academic and functional units on U.S. immigration rules and related institutional policies.
Provide direct, comprehensive advising to international students and scholars in regards to complex issues not only related to immigration but also related to academic, logistical, financial, health, travel, and career development issues.
Serve as official liaison to federal government agencies as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO), ensuring compliance with immigration regulations.
Authorize immigration benefits for international students and scholars in the SEVIS federal database (OPT, OPT-Stem Extension, CPT, Economic Hardship Employment, etc.).
Monitor, report, and submit required information and documentation to federal governmental agencies via SEVIS.
Assist students and scholars in adjusting to life at the university and in the U.S. including advising on-campus academic and personal support resources, clubs and organizations on campus, on and off campus employment, applications for Social Security Numbers, state driver's licenses, etc.
Develop and maintain relationships with schools and colleges regarding the immigration requirements for their international students, faculty, staff, scholars and exchange visitors.
Act as a liaison for international students and scholars with other departments on campus.
Coordinate with graduate and undergraduate admissions to assure that students are properly tracked through the admissions process
Processing international scholars per academic department and assisting with housing, familial, and insurance needs
Conduct orientation for all international students degree-seeking (F-1 visas)
