Reporting to the Associate Director, Data Integration & Analytics, the Lead Data Modeler is responsible for developing conceptual, logical and physical data models for the new Student Information System (SIS). The modeler will participate in all aspects of the data model development lifecycle which includes reviewing current data models, understanding requirements, doing technical design, implementation, documentation, testing, deployment and support of the data models developed. The incumbent in this position will review current data models of the existing SIS application and develop new models based on user requirements, integration and interface needs.
Please note that this is a project funded finite role with a duration of 2 years.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as a subject matter expert in enterprise conceptual, logical, and physical data models and perform data management tasks that contribute to client's mission and vision
Creation of functional design deliverables, data models, perform design walk through with client, transition design and data models to teams, and support during testing and deployment
Perform QA review of data model deliverables; act as reviewer and facilitator in data model reviews
Proven track record of working autonomously to deliver high quality data models in an agile environment
Gather data requirements to create and maintain entity relationship models and logical and physical data models that conform to existing standards and conventions
Provide leadership and guidance with enterprise data strategies
Proven experience creating optimal physical data models of datasets, creating and maintaining data maps and systems interrelationship diagrams for data domains and systems
Highly skilled in conceptual, logical and physical data modeling as well as data profiling
Collaborate with DBAs, architects, subject area owners to build scalable data models
Partner with security architects to ensure compliance with data security and privacy mandates
Develop data mapping documents for data development teams to use.
Experience defining and governing data modeling and design standards, tools, best practices, and related development methodologies for the organization
Research to identify effective data designs, new tools and methodologies for data analysis
Maintain documentation of data models and data flows, including relationships, constraints and metadata
Publish and conduct model reviews with business and technical project teams
Contribute creative problem solving with the ability to present multiple solutions and potential side effects

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR GRADE:
Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent required. Advanced degree desirable.
Candidate must have strong knowledge and experience with data modeling tools, standards and techniques
Excellent understanding of relational database concepts, impact of design on performance
Ability to clearly communicate complex technical ideas, regardless of the technical capacity of the audience
Experience working with dimensionally modeled data
Experience with Data Analysis and Modeling tools (e.g. RAA, ERWin, ER/Studio, Data Architect, etc.)
Deep knowledge of relational Database systems, ERP applications data models, ER diagrams, SQL and PL/SQL and stored procedures.
High level proficiencies in developing operational and reporting data models
Experience and proficiency with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase)
Familiarity with API creation and RESTful services
Work effectively both as a contributing team member and independently
Ability to work in a fast paced programming environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work with changing priorities and with multiple projects
Ability to be precise and attentive to detail is essential
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to work weekends and off-hours when necessary
