General Description: The Food Chemist/Manager-Proficiency Testing incumbent will jointly oversee the Laboratory Proficiency Test Program of IFSH which is a joint program between IIT and FDA. The Team develops and provides microbiological and chemical proficiency test samples to various federal/state government laboratories. The incumbent will provide administrative supervision to the IIT Proficiency Testing team staff, manage resources, provide hand-on laboratory support, and work closely with FDA scientists in a collaborative environment. He/she will respond to complex scientific inquiries, resolve, method/instrument issues, be a liaison to external partners, and will be expected to publish manuscripts in peer reviewed journals. The position reports to Director-Center for Specialty Programs at IIT IFSH. The position will work closely with the FDA Division of Food Processing Science and Technology on a daily basis.
