New York Military Academy is seeking an experienced Spanish and ESL teacher who would offer classroom instruction in both subject areas and ideally offer leadership in further developing the ESL program. Successful candidates will have at least three years of teaching experience at the middle and/or high school level. A Master’s degree in TESOL (or similar) is strongly preferred and minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (and certification) in TESOL or a closely related field is required. Candidates should also have a willingness to add meaningfully to the school’s co-curricular programs, such as in afternoon athletics or school clubs. Ideally, candidates would have relevant experience working in a boarding school setting with students from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Enthusiasm for working with young adults in and outside of the classroom is a must.
Faculty typically serve as an advisor to 8-10 students, proctor one evening study hall per week, and work one weekend per month as part of a student activities team. Benefits include pay commensurate with experience and health insurance. On-campus housing may be available.
BA required, MA preferred. ESL/TESOL certification required.
