Maret, an independent K-12 school in Washington, DC seeks a full-time teacher-librarian to join its vibrant Middle and Upper School Library and Center for Inquiry for a one-year position during the 2019-2020 school year. Responsibilities include:
Teaching weekly classes in grades 5-8
Staffing the reference desk
Serving as a middle-school advisor
Collaborating with the middle-school faculty to teach project-based information literacy skills
Promoting reading through book talks, clubs, displays, and bulletin boards
Cultivating a diverse library collection
Actively participating in readers advisory, reference, circulation, shelving and administrative tasks.
A strong candidate will have experience teaching research methods at the middle-school level, a love of middle-grade literature, commitment to growing as a library professional, and a demonstrated belief in equity and inclusion.
