The Assistant Director will aid in the supervision of all intercollegiate athletic programs and coordinate intramural, club sport, and recreation activities. The position will also be responsible for NJCAA eligibility and compliance as well as fiscal data entry. The Assistant Director will assist in managing Recreation & Wellness Center programming, including scheduling staff and group fitness instructors.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Assists in establishing annual goals to insure that athletic programs are consistent with institutional and department priorities and prepares an annual report of activities which support those goals;
Assists in establishing and maintaining active communication with all appropriate campus and college offices in order to promote the integration of athletics into the broader educational mission of the College;
Enters all financials into PeopleSoft and assists in budget management;
Manages NJCAA eligibility including clearing all Student-Athletes for participation through NJCAA MVP system;
Schedules all athletic events and is responsible for securing officials, arranging for transportation, and designating personnel necessary for program implementation;
Schedules appropriate athletic facilities for intercollegiate athletic practices and contests, including but not limited to: gymnasium, outdoor athletic fields, and locker rooms;
Manages all home events, assists with field/court set-up, and greets opposing teams and officials;
Assists in ensuring compliance with all national, regional, and college regulations and policies regarding the athletic program;
Represents MassBay Community College at professional conferences and meetings related to athletics, intramurals, tournaments, and related activities;
Assists in recruitment, supervision, and evaluation of coaching personnel and part-time support staff;
Supervises the purchase, distribution, and maintenance of department uniforms, equipment, and supplies;
Works closely with appropriate campus personnel to insure proper maintenance and utilization of all athletic facilities including athletic field;
Serves on College and campus committees;
Coordinate all activity at the Recreation and Wellness Center;
Develop and implement safety programs for activity at the Wellesley Fitness Center;
Supervise work-study staff and coordinate work schedules;
Coordinate recreation activities/programs;
Maintain data and records of fitness center use (i.e. sign-in and sign-out procedures, membership data, attendance records, etc.);
Schedule use of all recreation/fitness equipment;
Market/promote recreation and fitness center programs on campus;
Provide wellness/fitness training information;
Monitor cleaning and maintenance of equipment and facility and report concerns to facilities staff when necessary in conjunction with facilities department;
Assist students in assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating personal fitness programs;
Other duties as assigned.
Two or more years of related experience within a college athletics department.
Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse student population;
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills;
Proficiency in oral and written expression and computer usage.
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Salary Range: $45,000.00-$50,000.00
Classification: Non-Unit Professional
